We took an extra long July 4th weekend in Cape Cod, and after a rather difficult and very hot (and humid) short week in New York, I kind of wish I just stayed there forever. The Cape has always been my family's summer destination and whenever I am there all the memories from my childhood are brought up. It even always smells the same. That fresh salty air is something that I'll never get sick of. I love the feeling of being at the beach there, spending the evenings grilling with my dad in the backyard, and eating the best fresh seafood. There's nothing like it.
On Sunday morning we woke up extra early to hike the Provincetown Dunes. I'd never done this before and it was beautiful! The sand stretched on forever and as we hiked along we came across some tiny little huts on the beach where writers often retreat, that had no running water or electricity. Finally we got to the ocean and it was so blue and crystal clear. I took a quick dive in (even though there were seals aka possible sharks!) to refresh before the long hike back.
