Since the weather is starting to warm up a bit, I've been getting the urge to travel more. Last weekend Pat and I went up to Boston - he stayed with his brother and I stayed with my friend, Elyse, who lives in a charming apartment in the North End. Every time I go to Boston I like it more. There are so many restaurants, cool little neighborhoods and after living in NYC, I appreciate going to any city that is easily walkable.
We ate at three amazing places over the weekend - Monument in Charlestown, Neptune Oyster in the North End, and Loco Taqueria and Oyster Bar in the South End. Each place was uniquely amazing, but I think my favorite was Neptune Oyster. I was craving something super savory and salty and the lobster roll I had was truly incredible. If you're from the Northeast, you know that lots of people battle over whether lobster rolls are better cold with mayo (Maine style) or hot with butter (Connecticut style). I am in the Connecticut style fan club and the roll at Neptune Oyster was perfectly buttery and salty, and the bun was crispy and soaked up all of the butter. It was truly one of the most perfect meals and I am still thinking about it.
It was also great to catch up with some of my college friends. I've found that it's so important to stay in touch with people you care about, so I've been trying to make more of an effort to do so. During the week I normally feel too busy so it was nice to get away for a weekend and do a lot of laughing and relaxing.
